Steven G. Chapman
Senior Vice President- Wealth Management
Senior Portfolio Management Director

Steve Chapman heads a team of experienced professionals who assist in relationship management, client communication, and exceptional service. Steve has been working in the financial industry since 1970. His diverse financial services background includes positions as Senior Partner of the accounting firm Chapman, Davis & Chapman and as Vice President of Finance at an automotive original equipment manufacturer.

Steve has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ since 1987, an honor earned by qualified advisors who meet both quantitative and qualitative educational requirements. Starting in the financial services industry in 1982, he became a portfolio manager in 1986. He currently holds the title of Senior Portfolio Management Director, a distinction awarded to only the top portfolio managers at Smith Barney.

Steve is a member of the Certified Financial Analyst Institute, The Financial Planning Association and The Society of Financial Service Professionals. Steve and his wife Susan were married in 1969 and enjoy spending time with their three children and three grandchildren. Steve enjoys reading, golf and sailing.

Greg Chapman is a Financial Planning Specialist for the team. Prior to joining Smith Barney, Greg was a top Global Account Manager for over 6 years, responsible for outsourcing select operations of Fortune 50 companies. Additionally, he has owned and managed two businesses.

Greg is firmly committed to long-term relationships and strives to deliver exceptional client service. He listens carefully to their goals, values, aspirations and concerns; based on this input, he then works attentively to help them in achieving their financial objectives.

Greg has lived in Novi, Michigan since 1997 with his children. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship and International Business.

Greg is deeply involved in his local community. He sits on the Board of Directors for the Novi Chamber of Commerce, donates his time to The City of Novi, is involved with various fundraising efforts and is also a volunteer coach for children’s athletics, as well as assisting in other charitable activities.



Renee M. O’Connor
Client Service Associate

Renee O’Connor leads the team in the administrative and operational area as a client service associate. A graduate of Hope College, Renee holds bachelor’s degrees in both Business Management and French. Prior to joining Smith Barney, Renee worked for Congressman Pete Hoekstra in Washington, D.C. Additionally, she has worked for a private investment firm in Michigan.

Living and working in the Capitol has taught Renee the importance of exceptional service and the need for a well-managed, client-focused approach. During her work in Washington, Renee was responsible for responding to the needs and concerns of her constituents on a daily basis, while applying timely, useful solutions to those needs. Renee is firmly committed to building long-term relationships with her clients so that she is always prepared to help them achieve their goals and objectives.

Renee and her husband Andy are residents of Northwest Grand Rapids. In their free time they enjoy mountain biking, camping, theatre and traveling.
